Color

A wood-case, wood-strap watch with a luminous dial, so you can actually check the time in the dark. Japanese Miyota 2035 movement inside, not a mystery motor. Round face, spiral crown, double-side button, three colors if black's not your thing.

Specs

  • Dial diameter: 40.5mm
  • Movement: quartz, Miyota 2035 (Japan)
  • Glass: mineral reinforced
  • Buckle: stainless steel, double-side button
  • Case & strap material: wood
  • Care: wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoid submerging in water

Why this over the cheap version: A plastic-strap watch cracks at the buckle and the band splits within a year. Wood doesn't do either. It wears in instead of wearing out.

Fit and sizing

Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist, mark where it overlaps, then measure the strip flat. That's your wrist size. The dial is 40.5mm, which is on the smaller side and suits slimmer wrists. It comes in three colors. We left the thickness out of the specs because we couldn't confirm it.

Day to day

The dial is luminous, so you can check the time in the dark. Luminous paint needs light to charge, and the glow fades over a few hours. It's good for a glance, not a night light. No water-resistance rating is listed, so keep it dry.

Care

Wipe it with a dry cloth after wearing it. Take it off for the shower, the dishes and the gym. Keep it out of hot cars and long stretches of direct sun, which can dry out and warp wood. Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary from watch to watch. Yours won't match the photo exactly. That's the wood, not a defect.

Battery

It's quartz, so there's a small battery inside. It typically lasts one to three years, and any watch counter can swap it in a few minutes.

What we can't tell you

We don't have a forestry certification to show for the wood in this watch, so we're not claiming one. The claim is simpler: a wood strap outlasts a cheap plastic one.

Who it suits

Good if you want a smaller, round wood watch you can read in a dim room. Skip it if you want a big dial.

Buying it

It ships in about 8 to 12 business days, so order a couple of weeks ahead if it's a gift. If it's not right, you have 30 days to return it with a prepaid label.

Nothing life-changing, just stuff that works.
